We've been spending our Horde nights in water_tower_03 (The one that you can climb down into)- it's usually a quick base in early game or an easy camp when we're on the road but we concreted it, put up turrets etc. Right now we have separate Horde Bases and main workshops - building forts for Horde is fun but we're not in the mood atm: we'll risk POIs. I'm on Day 39 and still not a hint of finding an auger, and for Me thats really needed before working on reinforcing a large structure - AND keeping it maintained. I'm hesitant to commit to trying to reinforce a large locale right now though. I saw this building POI maybe 2 weeks ago, after making a run through it, I like the general look and feel of it too. It was a pain to keep standing from cop spit and birds but it's awesome when you're flying back with your gyro and it's visible from kilometers away. I generally like building inside over and under POIs My favourite from a past playthrough was the huge comms tower. The plan is to replace that with some kind of small footprint vertical hordebase probably with electrical stuff and continue vertically with a base over it that will extend through the roof, all still on the dance floor. I have a kinda temporary setup in the first floor of the strip club and I've made a small horde base on the dance floor for now. The only way it really works is the way they apparently do it: If the floor is artificial blocks and not PoI blocks, it recognizes it as unfit for spawning sombies on.I moved in to the diamonds men's club stripclub/dancebar double POI. HOW exactly would you expect the game to know what is and is not your base to avoid having enemies spawn inside it? There is a damn good reason most seasoned players have a Horde base separate from their home and crafting base. there are plenty of FPS zombies games out there. If the intent is just to turn this into a FPS. then thats just a waste of the majority of the games potential. and through is some missions here and there for break up the day.īut if all you can do is build these tiny itsy bitsy horde bases. I have over 2500 hours in the game because I like it. that's just frankly a waste of potential. But if you're going to just be limited to a 20 by 20 base otherwise the horde will spawn within your walls now. I for example like to try to make a self-sustaining base that can survive hordes. with Alpha 20 with soooooo many blocks to take advantage of, you could make some really cool bases. Some players like to just do missions and build a minimal base., others like to build nice elaborate bases. or stick to 8-bit games.Īlso I wanted to add that one of the features of this game is the base building aspect. If you wanted to do AFK for a horde night, it still easily done. If you can't handle the challenge, you are free to alter your game settings to make it easier, or utilize mods to change the experience. You don't have to agree with it, but the game is designed to be a challenging title in the survival genre. They don't want you to sit there safe and AFK your horde night. Part of also it is an intentional game mechanic. Spawning them further out requires a lot more CPU cycles to calculate, and that isn't even bringing up possible game engine limitations. Pathing calculations get more expensive the farther out you go, and this game need to be playable on a relative potato PC to meet the min-spec standards. This is a fully 3D voxel game with a lot more overhead that something with fixed terrain and 2D walls like 98% of the other games out there. I remember in a10 having to fight them out of the basement of our base because I died and respawned down there. Originally posted by codem:I don't believe it was always this way. But if you fight horde night there, the large size could give you trouble.Īlso a LCB does not prevent horde night spawns or screamer spawns. Note you can still build a huge elaborate mansion for the rest of the week. Just keep the land area footprint small enough for you to cover. Build up if needed, for sniper towers, turrets etc. They won't spawn within 20m of you, so if you are inside 20x20 walls you are covered for spawns inside your base. What this means is, for horde night, stick with a 20x 20 base. Btw, the game, and the enemies don't care in the slightest where your walls are. But a good guide is 25 to 50m away from the block you are standing on. Or it may depend on the strength of your hardware, such as memory. Horde night enemies spawn in a perimeter around you, the player. Originally posted by codem:Is this a common bug? Has it been reported for Alpha 20 already?
